The French car maker Renault was one of the first to succeed in this arena. Renault’s Japanese partner Nissan is now prepared to enter into this arena with the Duster based compact SUV. Nissan has named it as Terrano and the SUV differentiates itself from the French product through its muscular design traits and wonderfully finished cabin. 8.Tata Sumo Gold

Combating competition in a vast market like that of India is pretty difficult for any automobile maker. Upgrading cars to give them a refreshed look has been one of the major strategies, most marques have relied on while taking on competitors. For a similar situation, Tata has taken similar upgrades to next level by adding functional features along with refreshing the looks of its popular MUV, the Sumo Gold. The new car gets about 19 features on both exterior and interior and has a refined and reliable powertrain for higher power and fuel economy. Tata Sumo Gold looks dashing with two new colours added in its portfolio, threatening the position of one of its serious competitors the Bolero along with other new compact wagons which have created a huge buzz in auto sector. The new Tata Sumo Gold is available in both BS III and BS IV engine types and has multiple variants in its list. Until the launch of the Indica, Tata Motors was concentrating on making utility vehicles like the Sumo, Sierra and later on followed by the Safari in the latter half of 1990-2000. Tata had then launched its Safari with a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that produced 90bhp. Later, on Tata Motors had even introduced an option of 2.1-litre, 135bhp petrol engine on its Safari, which didn't impress many buyers due to its lower mileage. With complains about Safari being under-powered, Tata launched the Safari with a 3.0-litre DiCOR engine, picking up the engine block from Tata 407 and giving it a common rail valvetrain. And now, the Tata Safari comes with a 2.2-litre DiCOR engine.

10.Audi Q7

With seating for up to seven and a versatile layout, the 2014 Audi Q7 courts large families. And what makes it a market standout is that its infused with luxury in a way that few other three-row vehicles are. Provided you don't need to much off-road ability, it's a nice, road-focused utility vehicle for the family, with a luxurious interior, lots of useful interior technologies, and impressive performance--including reasonably good towing capability.Just don't count on all that much off-road ruggedness. While the related Volkswagen Touareg and Porsche Cayenne do hold their own off-pavement, the Q7 doesn't do quite as well with its longer wheelbase and road-oriented all-wheel drive. On the other hand, that extra wheelbase improves ride quality and composure while maintaining (most of) the relative nimbleness for a large SUV. And the all-wheel drive system aids on-the-road stability and traction--the kind you need when negotiating snowy driveways, or slick highways.
